The Gypsies Curious George Bites

Me and Samuel have been working on a few super fun’s things to share with y’all! We’ve finished a DIY project that we’ll be sharing with you next week and we have been busy trying to find some snacks and meals that little man will eat that are a little bit healthier than “ceehipp” lol (toddler translation- chips). I think this afternoon we were successful! We were watching Curious George when I got the idea for this snack on a stick and I’m going to be honest I love them too!

What you’ll need:

Bananas
Peanut Butter
Melting Chocolates
Kabob sticks or toothpicks
1 teaspoonful of coconut oil (optionalish)

A few things before you get started that I learned through the process. One banana makes about 6 bites. A spoonful of peanut butter is plenty. Make space in your freezer ahead of time these puppies gotta freeze. Also I bought this chocolate because it was on sale, it tastes amazing but it did not melt nor go on as smooth as almond bark I was able to get some of the smoothness back by adding a teaspoon full of coconut oil. I will get almond bark next time and save these for cookies and cakes!

Slice up your bananas. We made pretty thick slices because we wanted larger bites. Add a layer of peanut butter to one side and place the other side on top. Now use your kabob stick or toothpick to secure them like so.

You will place these on a plate and into the freezer to freeze for 1 episode of Curious George or 25-30 mins.

Remove from freeze after your chocolate is melted well.

If you’ve never melted chocolate before it is not that difficult calm down you can totally do this! If you have then you’re probably better at it than me lol.  There are a few options microwave or stovetop I prefer the stovetop since I have a fancy double boiler but umm I couldn’t find it sooo I put one of my metal pans carefully on top of one of my slightly smaller boilers. After placing about 1 cup of water to the bottom boiler you will carefully place the metal pot (or bowl) on top. Bring the water to a very light boil slowly. I only melt about 1 cup of chocolate at a time in the top pot making sure to stir regularly. If you are using this brand of melting chocolate add your coconut oil to help it become smooth if not then you can skip the coconut oil unless you just like it, it is good for you.

Carefully dip and return to plate. Yes your peanut butter may melt and run a bit it is ok to be messy! After all are dipped and covered with goodness to your satisfaction return them to the freezer for 30 mins and serve frozen.

Grab an ice cold glass of milk, your favorite episode of Curious George, and Enjoy Y’all!
